The food we sell meets the highest quality standards, no matter whether you’re shopping for produce, meat, or a loaf of bread. We know it can be confusing to keep track of all the food terminology being used these days, so we take the guesswork out of your grocery shopping by stocking only the best that we can find.

We believe in the importance of organic food, produced without artificial fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, growth hormones, or genetic modifications, and we try to carry a variety of organic items from nearby farms and suppliers. That said, we want you to feel comfortable buying ingredients even if they aren’t organic, which is why we carry a wide array of products which may not be USDA-certified organic, but which are produced in a responsible and sustainable way. This goes for what we stock on our shelves, as well as for our meat and seafood. We’re proud to carry humanely raised beef, pork, lamb, veal, buffalo, and poultry, all certified free of antibiotics and growth hormones. Our seasonal selection of fresh fish highlights the best that’s available, and we make sure that everything on offer in our seafood case is sustainable and traceable.

We make it a priority to support businesses in our communities by using local, artisanal producers—whether it’s New York State farmstead cheesemakers or small-batch chocolate makers based right here in Brooklyn.
